Loving the technical aspect of this. BUT....... Hotter brakes imply better brakes.....
As brakes convert kinetic energy into heat energy through the medium of friction. The hotter the brake, arguably the faster rate of energy conversion?
Stopping distance is better measure of braking ability. As a heavier car will have a greater kinetic energy at 120KPH so will need to create more heat to stop.
But you have given me some great ides for challenges on road trips. I'm scared we are going all Top Gear all of a sudden. But they always seem to have fun...
the prize was the attached emblem mounted on a stone plinth. We had a lot of fun. We have a boys weekend away 11-13th June. Great mix of cars, the ones above plus a Vanquish, a 2019 Vantage, a 911, my V12 Vantage and a hot MGB (it might be a bit slow in some sections).
We will have to drive sedately to protect the quality red wine we are taking along!
I was really surprised by the CCM's being 155 deg C which was double the steel rotors.
we did a V8 Challenge on the weekend - 4 mates in different V8's
a 63S, an R8, a V8 Vantage S and my newly acquired F Type R
we picked a few ways to score points for the challenge that weren't (exactly) speed related and score 1 for best & 4 for worst in each category, as follows
most fuel used (over about 350 fast paced country kms) scored 1 point, least 4 points
hottest brake temp in an emergency stop from 120km/hour (1 for hottest etc)
1 point for each time you crossed an unbroken line in passing someone
Who would be up for a fast paced (miles per day) road trip with a slightly competitive edge. A daily challenge, a trophy and prize money (must be donated to a charity of your teams choice).
Then you will get an idea of what one of our partners has in mind. But it would be run with routes that match the cars, hotels that meet your needs and challenges that might make you have to use your grey matter. Will also include some suitable stops that you will find very interesting.

Lovely Pic by the way?
Was there prize or a forfeit?

Ok, what do you want from this club?
