Covid put a stop to CarPlay installation last year but I am now booked in at Aston Installations for fitting in a couple of weeks. Good news is the delay has given AI time to get the new HD screen ready so having that done as part of the install also. No more Tom Tom stuck on the screen for me (which I cannot reach from the drivers seat 😀)
Anyone else have the AI CarPlay - any tips on getting the best out of it?
Which navigation app to you find is the best?

Don't forget to let us know how you get on.
I am going to Aston Installations tomorrow to have CarPlay fitted. Google maps says 133 miles 2hrs 35 mins. For the same journey the Aston nav says 233 miles and 55 minutes 🤣. Confirmation of need for CarPlay
Yes, my main cars has touch screen. Not sure how it would work without. Might be a strange experience.
I have had the Aston installations CarPlay setup for a couple of years. It works very well given the limitation of the OE screen. I use mostly Sygic or Waze navigation. The interface Is a little different to the touch screen that I use in other vehicles and does take a few minutes to become reacquainted with.
The telephone and music integration is very good although the mic does seem to pick up some em interference/noise occasionally. James and Lenny are excellent and I could not find fault with them.
What I also like about it is that if you click on messages...it reads it out to you and you can also verbally reply to the message. It seems to be pretty accurate. Just don't forget to make sure your stereo is on. I spent 15 minutes fiddling, resetting the system, trying to find out why I can see the Carplay on the unit, but couldn't hear anything 🤣
I live off those warnings though. Daytime miles are much more likely to meet a camera. Or to hit bad traffic.
I suppose it helps with the main car having a big screen
I often find that there are so many wazer Icons on the screen it is difficult to see the map
The warnings are extremely accurate and up to date though
Waze is very different on Android compared with IOS. Which I find totally mad. Even has a different voice by default.
I find the Waze screen a bit busy and like the simplicity of TomTom maps
google maps looks a good compromise
I was using Waze this morning. Straight road to where I was going. But it had other ideas. I’m usually a fan but I had to turn it off. I’m sure it’s user error on the settings somewhere.
I have android Auto & Car Play in my Vanquish Gen 1. It is hard to fault Waze. Google maps is also good.
Waze can send you down some strange routes though.
