Well who would like to be part of this little road trip?
A scenic lap of Snowdonia starting at the Ponderosa Café and then looping around the mountains and back to the Ponderosa.
Saturday 22nd of May 2021. We dare not make it the Sunday as that is Monaco GP race day. We might get lynched.
We can't include all of the best roads in all of North Wales. There are simply too many of them. But we have included a couple of options to allow people to make the most of what Snowdonia has to offer.
So come in groups or as singles, arrive in an appropriate car. Meet and greet at the Ponderosa, grab some breakfast and make some friends who like to drive. Leave in groups or tag along with someone you just met, enjoy the journey and just smile.
Take a look at the roadbook and see if it might just scratch that itch. Remember it is free. Just turn up and take part.
Remember to tell all your friends about this trip and get them all to come along.
Locally there are lots of hotels in case you want to make a whole weekend of it.
Thanks Neil, very pleased to hear you enjoyed it so much. Please tell everyone you know who owns or aspires to own an Aston.
Great pictures.
@VanquishRider - many thanks for organising the Aston Gathering in Snowdonia last Saturday. I think most enthusiasts have been absolutely itching to get out on such a drive with other like minded enthusiasts, and enabled by the restrictions recently lifting a little, this drive more than satisfied that itch! Although the weather was a bit variable in the morning, it cleared into the afternoon and we had some excellent driving. It occurred to me when we were driving in convoy down those narrow, slate walled lanes with masses of water, loose gravel and mud on the road surface, what all those other Aston owners with their 'pride and joy' still cosseted in their garages were missing - they would have absolutely wet themselves!! The EVO triangle section was also excellent fun....except for those pesky average speed cameras. Great bunch or people too! Roll on the next Gathering 😃 Enclosed a few photos of many. Neil & Terry
Great pictures Dave.
He was a little bored in the car at times. But loved chatting to everyone. Especially the ladies. Have to keep an eye on him...
Wheel is annoying, but an easy and straightforward fix. Be worse if you kissed one of those slate walls. Like driving Monaco GP circuit down Pen-y-pass out of Llanberis.
Don't to forget to all post your pictures.
Hi Steve, Great day, fantastic roads, and you are the Weather Master!!. Really enjoyed and glad we met back up at the Sportsman (ish). Still p*ssed off about the curb but things happen. Did your lad enjoy himself? we were Dave and Cheryl in the Vantage Roadster.
Very enjoyable, look forward to the next one.....
What a great group of people to spend the day with. It started from meeting up with a V12 Vantage on the drive in that had headed down from Blackpool. My foster son was waving frantically as soon as we saw them and was greeted with waves from the Vantage. He was worried when we separated. But Sat Nav had them on a different route in.
At the Ponderosa we were greeted by 4 cars waiting and enjoying a brew and breakfast. 2 Sausage baps later and 13 cars were present and gang of BMW Mini's. So we all had a chat, inspected each others and looked up to see a swarm of Heddlu (Police) had arrived. We paid our respects and headed out while they headed in for breakfast.
We head down the Nant-y-Garth pass and then some narrow tracks taking us towards Rhug. We followed to Ambulance into Bala and we all had a quick head count before getting onto the really good mountain roads of the A4212 to Trawsfynydd and then onto the A470 to Porthmadog. Everybody seemed impressed with the views and the quality of the roads.
Quick brew break and ice creams and we were off again to Bedgellert and a loop round the back of Snowdon. Heading up and over Pen-y-pass and flying down into Betws-y-coed. We swing up onto the Denbigh moors via the Evo Triangle before our final stop at the Sportsmans. Where we all chatted for half an hour before we headed off home in different directions.
I've had a brilliant day and it was all down to the good weather and great company. I'm terrible with names so please remind me who you all were.
I guess we need to organise something else now? Any suggestions?
I hope you all have a great run out today and that the weather holds for you.
On my way.
Weather still looking good for tomorrow if you coming to the gathering
Starting to look like we will have a good turn out to this one.
That’s the plan.....
Please come Saturday also.
I live in Llangollen, I’ll drop by with my roadster to introduce myself Friday evening....
Will be there and hoping for top down weather☀️ - might be disappointed🌨️
Yes, have a reservation. Maybe they have booked in the last day or so with the relaxing of lockdown measures. Look forward to some good driving!
Did you manage to book in with them? Others have told me they are booked up already.
@VanquishRider - Self +1 passenger. Plan to stay over at Wild Pheasant Friday evening.
